Jyst Privacy Policy

 

Purpose

This Policy describes the ways in which Jyst collects and shares your information. We provide these details with transparency in mind – we want you to have control over your use of Jyst, and to understand what happens when you use the service.

What Information Do We Collect?

Information you provide: When you create a Jyst account, you provide your email address and create a username, but we do not collect your name or other personal information.  If you log in through a social media site, however (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), we may access data you have shared with those sites, consistent with their Terms of Use and Privacy Policies, which may include personal information you have provided to those sites..

Information we collect automatically: We collect the content you post on Jyst – questions, comments, and votes – as well as information about the time it was posted. We also collect information on the time you access Jyst, how long you use the application for, your device’s ID and model, domain name, and IP address. In addition, if you have “liked” or followed us on social media, we collect this information as well.

By using Jyst, and providing us with information, you understand and waive any right to anonymity that you might otherwise have and consent to our disclosure of your information as set forth in this privacy policy. 

Why Do We Collect Your Information? 

Overall, your information helps us keep Jyst running smoothly and customize your experience on the application.

We collect your usage information and email address in order to send you newsletters, notices about updates to Jyst, and other information about the services we think you’d be interested in. Your data helps us customize the information we send you. You can unsubscribe from our email communications at any time. 

We collect both individual and aggregated information to better understand how our users access Jyst, and to study potential improvements to the service. We may also use this data for our own research and analysis.

Who Else Sees Your Information?

Your posts are public, viewable by anyone who logs onto Jyst. While we keep your posts anonymous, it is your responsibility to avoid posting identifying information in your questions and comments. Other users can share posts they read on Jyst, including on social media networks and other third-party sites, so don’t post anything you don’t want out there.

We will not share the information you provide us or that we collect with any third parties without your consent, except as needed in order to provide you with Jyst’s services, to assist vendors, consultants, agents and service providers who make Jyst work or improve its performance,  to protect the rights or property of Jyst, in an emergency to protect the personal safety of Jyst’s employees, customers or any other person, and to the extent required during the negotiation of a merger, sale, financing or acquisition, or to comply with the law.

During a legal process such as a court order, subpoena, or judicial proceeding, Jyst may share your IP address or other identifying information, your location information, or any other information we have about you and your device, which does not include your name. Jyst may share your information if we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, violations of our Terms of Use or Privacy Policy, or as evidence in litigation involving Jyst.

Your information may be transferred to another company in the event that Jyst undergoes a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy proceeding, or if Jyst’s assets are transferred to another company.

We may also share users’ anonymous, aggregated information with third parties for marketing, advertising, research, or related purposes. 

In addition, we may use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit Jyst. Jyst does not evaluate or endorse the products and services advertised.  These companies may use information about your visits to Jyst in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.

In the course of serving advertisements to Jyst, a third-party advertiser may use “cookies” and other technologies such as pixel tags and web beacons that are small data files which may remain on your device. These technologies help advertisers better understand user behavior, and facilitate and measure the effectiveness of advertisements, as well as providing you with more relevant advertisements.  If you do not want to accept these files, you can check with your browser or device manufacturer about how to disable them, although some services may not function properly is you disable these features. 

How Can I Control My Information?

If you deactivate your account and remove the Jyst application from your device, we will delete all of your personal information.

You can delete individual posts, replies, and votes from Jyst. Other users will not be able to see these, but Jyst may retain the data in its records.

How Do I Stay Up-to-Date on this Policy?

From time to time, we may use information you provide us for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy policy, without direct advance notice to you.  If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the changes here. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check this page periodically. By continuing to use this site, you consent to any changes that have been made to our policy.
